Galanthus

Galanthus - a limited edition of 25 etchings.

This etching was produced on two copper plates.The first held the blue ink and the second the green. I produced the background by covering the plate in aquatint and placing it in the acid for a short time. I then rolled some grass and weeds, covered in an acid resistant varnish, over the plate leaving behind the varnish on the plate. This was then placed back into the acid so that the remaining background was etched further. This produces the different depths of ink in the background.

The copper plate is 14cm. x 21cm.
Framed size 32cm. x 40cm.

No etchings have been touched up or coloured by hand. All effects come direct from the etched copper plate.
